Description
At the end of this class the student will have basic blacksmithing skills to work with mild steel including drawing, hot cutting, tapering, bending, twisting, and punching / drifting. Students will also be able to start, maintain, and break down a coal fire and safely operate a propane forge. Basic hammer skills, focusing on proper technique, will also be taught as part of this class.
Students will also be able to identify and use various parts of a standard anvil including drawing and curving over the horn, creating a shoulder off the side of the anvil, drift through the pritchel hole, and work with various tools in the hardy hole.
