The Steel Yard is dedicated to supporting individual artists in their pursuit of knowledge and financial independence. For many students our open enrollment courses can be just that; a chance to learn an art form or a trade in a setting that encourages experimentation and personal growth.

Fire Camp is this Weekend!

|Have you been looking for the perfect display rack to feature your necklaces, handbags, or leather goods? Do you need a custom easel to feature your favorite painting? Then this is the course for you! In ‘Welding for your Craft Business’, students will design and fabricate custom displays for their handmade goods or artwork. Under the guidance of the instructor, students will be introduced to MIG welding, the oxygen-acetylene torch, various metal saws, and the grinder. Students will be able to heat, cut, join, bend, and polish mild steel to create their display furniture. Already have something in mind? Feel free to bring your own wild ideas to the table! Whether you tackle one larger project or several smaller ones is entirely up to you. No previous experience necessary—this is a great opportunity to explore welding for the first time. Materials and tools will be provided.|
