Handbuilt Day of the Dead Skulls

In this course, students will have access to our ceramics studio and a knowledgeable instructor who will lead handbuilding demonstrations guiding students to create colorful and decorative clay skulls inspired by Dia de los Muertos sugar skulls. The course will focus on sculpting and hollowing out the clay sculptures, and then decorating them both with additive techniques and underglazing. Though the class will reference traditional decoration, students will be free to design and decorate in their pieces in their own style. No previous ceramics experience necessary—this class is open to all levels. Materials and tools will be provided. Enrollment in this course includes additional access one monitored Open Studio session per week; either on Thursday afternoons from 3:00pm – 6:00pm, Friday evenings from 5:00pm - 8:00pm, or Sunday evenings from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

She has 30 plus years of teaching experience, currently teaching sewing at her place of business, West Side Sewing Studio as well as Ceramics classes in handbuilding at The Steel Yard.
