RHODE ISLAND'S FUTURE: BLOG

Rhode Island's Future - About This Blog: An insider's guide to politics and culture in Rhode Island. Reform needs to come to Rhode Island. We need to come together, discuss our common problems - lack of good jobs, affordable health care, failing schools, rising property taxes - and find common solutions. Democracy at its best is when we engage goverment and change it. Let's begin.

Art In Ruins - We at ArtInRuins believe that decay is beautiful, but not necessary. Artists live and work in the buildings that the city or developers have often forgotten, and now that Providence is becoming a hip town (or a suburb of Boston) these buildings and the artists, musicians and businesses who lived and worked in them are getting used for purposes that do not contribute to the community in the same way. We are not against new development, we are only opposed to unsustainable or irresponsible development.

Providence Initiative for Psychogeographic Studies is an artist collaborative founded on principals of urban sustainability, lost space recovery, experimental public art making, and contemporary psychogeography. In order to create understanding and transformation of the world we must create adventures. Society's emancipation will not be found in the existing structure of the world, but in the cracks and lost spaces. PIPS works to facilitate and create actions and adventures that exercise human potential in new and inventive ways. Our intention is the creation of a better world through community and action.
